On Sunday June 8, 2008 in Canastota N.Y., Former World Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He reigned as the world heavyweight champion for 7 1/2 years.
 
Larry was second to Joe Louis for the  longest title run in heavyweight history. Larry and Joe became very good friends. When Joe Louis passed on, Larry was one of his pallbearers.

During his career including 18 months as Ali's sparring partner, Holmes beat W
BC Heavyweight Champion Ken Norton on June 9, 1978, winning the fight in the final 15th round cited by many as one of the greatest rounds in boxing history.

" I was determined to be the heavyweight champion of the world because I wanted to prove to those who said I couldn't do it, that I could do it," said Holmes in front of an audience of over 1,000 including family and friends.
